Sonya Lennon to launch month-long Equal Pay campaign
Sonya Lennon, designer, tech entrepreneur and founder of Dress for Success Dublin, will launch the second annual Dress for Success Equal Pay campaign tomorrow, Tuesday, 31st October, at 11am at the premises of Dress for Success Dublin, 4 Ellis Quay, Smithfield, Dublin 7.
For the launch, Sonya will be joined by Senator Lorraine Clifford-Lee and Dublin City Councillor Claire Byrne, both of whom are supporting the 2017 Dress for Success Equal Pay campaign.
The aim of the campaign – which will run throughout the month of November – is to build awareness of the gender pay gap and raise funds to support more women back to work.
Commenting in advance of tomorrow’s launch, Sonya Lennon said: “In Ireland, the gender pay gap is approximately 14 per cent. This means women in Ireland will effectively stop earning relative to men on 10th November this year.
“We’re designating 10th November as Equal Pay Day, and we’ll be announcing a range of activities tomorrow to draw attention to the gender pay gap over the coming month.”
Dress for Success Dublin will also publish the submission it made to the Government’s recent consultation on the gender pay gap to coincide with tomorrow’s launch.
